Drawing from life (looking at the real object, not a photo or out of your imagination), your objective is to draw the object as realistically as possible. Try to draw all that you see, as accurately as possible. Include as much as you can- details, light/dark, texture, etc. Allow yourself at least an hour for each drawing. Consider the whole picture plane and utilize the whole piece of paper (not necessarily filling every corner of the paper, but no small objects floating in the middle of the page).

Experience greater command of drawing materials and learn how to manipulate pressure, pencil grip and rhythm of application to achieve gradients of tone. Gain skills in proportional enlargement and addressing the entire picture plane.

Engage sighting technique to achieve accurate proportions and angles while earning to see the angles of lines in perspective and gain an experiential understanding of linear perspective. Learn to see angles and check for and recognize errors in your own drawing and how to make revisions that are efficient and effective. Gain experience in the field of architectural drawing to make informed decisions about how to develop your drawing into something personal and satisfying- applying what you’ve viewed of other artists work throughout the term, applying your knowledge and skills, and applying discipline in time management- in the given amount of time.

Learn how to discern complex value and gain a greater understanding and command of the charcoal medium. Learn how to think in the negative/opposite through the process of the reductive drawing technique and develop a more advanced drawing practice. Arrive at a finished drawing that is dynamic, successfully depicts form, and that has a pleasing visual balance.
