PERSONAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY

People call me Ethan. If anyone sees a short boy with spiked-up hair and sunglasses, well that is most likely me. I am from Tracy, California and have lived here all my life. I was raised with one younger brother by my dad and mom. I have attended three schools in total as I finally ended up at the University of the Pacific to earn my bachelor's degree. I am a graphic design major with a minor in marketing. Alongside school I am also a Starbucks barista where I work part time. Many may think that I draw and design in my free time, but I do not. In fact, I rarely do art for fun. Many say I am good at art, and I can see why they say that too. My style of design is simplistic and minimalistic, I like everything neat and clean. My art style follows me in my lifestyle as well. I am a clean, organized, and simple person. On my free time I am either with friends or family as I am an outgoing person. Me and my friends are incredibly involved with the Portuguese culture due to our ties of when our grandparents immigrated to America from Portugal. I am part of a Portuguese marching band where I play the trumpet as well as a Portuguese folklore dance group. These two groups keep me busy and going. I am proud of where I am in my life and cannot wait to see where my journey takes me and what I can accomplish.

WHAT IS ART?

Art is when a person lets their creative mind come to life. When someone can compose all their ideas to create something to express how they feel or even their thoughts. Art can be a painting or drawing where the artist can express the way they feel two dimensional. It can show emotion through color, or the type of lines, or even the actual focal point itself. Art can be a sculpture where a 3D figure is created. Art does not have to be tangible though. Art can be expressed through dance or music. Dancers can express the way they feel with the use of their body while music can be expressed through sound. Every piece of art has a unique technique where the creator or artist tell a story. Stories are told through art generation after generation. We the people of today have learned many lessons of the ancient years through art. Cave drawings tell the story of lifestyle, beliefs, and ideas. Egyptian hieroglyphics or pyramids are other forms of art that express a life style. Art is a universal form of communication that will hold meanings for many years to come that portray messages and thoughts.

WHAT IS DESIGN?

Design is the way anything fits together and is planned to operate. There is an idea behind every design and the way it should work. The creator can choose for something to be the focal point and the center of a piece of art to catch the viewer's eye or a center point of an operation to have some organization and control. Other people might use the balance to create stability or stability in the way the artist or developer wants each aspect of their work to come together. The design also consists of rhythm mostly creating the emotional aspect of any creation, telling a story, or making the viewers/participants feel a certain way. Repetition and variety evoke anything to stick into the mind of any individual, due to seeing or hearing the same thing repeatedly while having small variations to keep people wanting more. Developers use line direction to guide people in everyday life, while artists use line direction to guide the viewer's eye around the piece of art. Designers use contrast to create a pop, which creates variation so not everything is boring. When contrast is used items, standout becoming more apparent to the viewer. Unity brings all these aspects into one cohesive design that looks great and operates well, to simultaneously bring design into any situation in life.

WHAT IS CRAFT?
Craft can be described as the execution of something. When someone is considered a craftsman, they can create something with talent and skill. The craft is the outcome of the creator’s idea. Craft can be anything someone can think of. If it can be thought of, it can be created. The time and patience an individual puts into their craft should be recognized. People learn with experience so as time goes on that person's craft will continue to evolve, each time getting better and better. Through the journey of their craft, their inspirations might change which can be represented in their work as well.

Every person has a craft without even realizing it. Craft is not just in the artistic world. Craft can be a painting or sculpture for artists. Craft can also be the game of an athlete, their swing, their throw, or even their kick. Craft can be found at work baristas craft is the drink, while authors craft is their book. Anything that takes talent and is executed is a craft. Craft can be found anywhere, and craft is unique and created by each person that has ever walked this planet.

CREATIVITY AND KNOWLEDGE

In the world today creativity and knowledge work hand in hand. Without creativity everything would

be the same and boring. Without knowledge no one would know anything or have the experience

to do anything. Creativity and knowledge share many commonalities while used in life but also

have some differences.

Knowledge being the backbone of experience and being what each person knows factually cannot take anyone far enough without the use of creativity. Creativity brings everything a person knows all together to combine a new idea, concept or even a product. Creativity lets the mind flow to create something new with the knowledge already known. This knowledge can be from experience, or it can be from life lessons or even facts learned in the classroom. The development from basic knowledge is where creativity blossoms. The bigger picture, as some people might say when all the pieces get put together, is the creation based on knowledge. Having these two separate aspects nothing in life would ever evolve, meaning that creativity and knowledge must work in tandem together.

With creativity and knowledge's similarities and differences new creations and ideas are formed every day. Not one could stand alone, without creativity knowledge would just be facts and without knowing anything creativity would be useless. Realizing that these are closely related shows the idea of becoming a well-rounded person knowledgeably to create a well-off life.
